Revelation 2:12 ( And to the angel of the church in Pergamos write; these things saith he which hath the sharp sword with two edges)

The third letter to the church is for the church in Pergamos, he said he knows their works and where they dwell, even the place where Satan sits, he commended them as they hold fast to his name and have never denied their faith in him, even when some of them were martyred in the place where Satan lives.

But with all these commendations, they still hold the doctrine of Balaam, the false prophets, who taught Balak to cast stumbling blocks on the way of God’s heritage, and to eat food sacrificed to idols and commit fornication within the camp, they even accommodate those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which Jesus Christ also hates.

Their faithfulness to God’s work won’t matter by the time God visits them with the sword of His mouth. Is this the type of church you belong to here on earth? Check yourself before it’s too late.

You can’t be in this kind of church and prosper, for what will stagnate your spiritual life is already in you, you’re holding onto God but still accommodating the doctrines of his enemy.

Some churches seem perfect from the outside but inside there is rot that has eaten deep into their fibre and cut them off from their relationship with the true vine. As faithful as they were, they allowed the spirit of Balaam to penetrate, allowing their members to eat things sacrificed to idols, not minding its consequences.

Mingle with unbelievers in the name of love and romancing with the prince of the world in the name of fellowship and say it doesn’t matter, we are all brothers.

They become prisoners of their own conscience while trying to drag people out of the pit they enter themselves.

They are the ones who say, ” Let’s dress like a prostitute to win their souls, ” ” Let’s go to a club and dance together to bring them to Christ, they went to a gathering of unbelievers and ate their sacrifice in the name of bringing them over to Jesus.

They say, let’s join politics to show the world how to govern, but within them, they have different motives, such as if you can’t beat them, you can join them.

They are called Christians but participating in isese and dance after masquerade to profess their love to the world, they honoured culture and traditions more than the word of God.

The church of God is spiritual, it might not necessarily mean a congregation or denominations, but each individual who constitutes the body of Christ belongs to one of these churches, as explained by Jesus Christ.

There is someone who belongs to a particular church that always prays and also believes in deliverance, who came to me to demand something she wants to perform rituals for her twin babies.

I said but you’re a Christian, she said, the ritual is just to protect the babies against the odds of life, I told her point-blank that it’s not protection but initiation which she never agreed to.

How many people like this are in the church who respect traditions and culture above the doctrine of Jesus Christ?

These kinds of people are just warming the bench in the church by the time the anger of God arises against them, they will regret coming to the world.

These are in the church but still commit fornication with spiritual and physical adultery, fighting for post and trying to lord over others in the church of God, they belong to the church in Pergamos, they might fight battle against the devil, calling down fire from above to consume demons, may not necessary deny the faith, even if one of them was martyr, if all these abominable things are found in them, they are nothing more than God’s enemies whose candlesticks shall be removed from among the brethren and their names be deleted out of his book, nothing imperfect shall inherit the kingdom of heaven….to be continued
