Romans 8:14
“For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.”
There are two categories of people in the world: those who are led by their selfish nature and controlled by their lusts and desires, and those who are led by the Spirit of God.
Everyone, by nature, is under the dominion of the power that ruined the lives of their progenitors. This is the power at work in a family, controlling its members and causing them to inherit the curse that ravages the family.
It is the gospel of Christ that separates us from the power of our fathers’ house and transfers us into the kingdom of light, which is the kingdom of God. It places us under the government of the Holy Spirit through the Word of God.
A child of God receives the indwelling of the Holy Spirit at conversion. He is no longer under the leadership of his flesh, the direction of a prophet who speaks through divination, or the control of his pastor.
Even when his pastor brings a revelation concerning him, that revelation should serve as confirmation of what the Lord has already shown him.
If you are still dependent on revelations from men to determine the direction of your life, then you need to examine your relationship with God and His Spirit.
Since Jesus died on the cross, the veil of the temple was torn in two, creating access for man to have direct fellowship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Many people’s lives have been destroyed by following the direction of prophets. Marriages have collapsed because of what a prophet said, rather than what God says.
Those who are under the direction of the Spirit of God are the ones who demonstrate the evidence of being sons and daughters of God.
If God has never corrected you concerning your dressing and appearance, perhaps you need to examine whether you truly belong to Him. If you are never rebuked concerning your character, you need to examine your sonship.
The Spirit of God does not only guide your choices; He guides your ways in life so that you do not stumble into destruction.
This is part of the leading of the Spirit.
Your daily interactions with people, your relatives, and even your conduct in your workplace must come under the leading of God’s Spirit.
He guides your choices so that you do not choose wrongly. He guides your ways so that you do not fall into evil circumstances. What destroys others will not destroy you when you walk under His direction.
He guides you even in the marketplace and in your commercial dealings with people, so that you do not purchase what you will later regret.
If the Spirit of God is not actively involved in your life in this manner, perhaps you are the one hindering Him through rebellion against His commands, or perhaps you are not among those whom He leads.
If you are truly a child of God, He will correct you.
He will push you to forgive those whom you have vowed never to speak to again. He will compel you to ask forgiveness from those whom you have offended.
Since I gave my life to God almost thirty years ago, God has been faithful to me. I have not gone to any prophet for consultation. The Holy Spirit is my Prophet. I listen to Him, seek His direction, and He has never denied me His companionship.
If I have a dream that I do not understand, I pray about it, and before the evening of that same day, I receive an answer.
How can the Holy Spirit be living in you, yet you do not ask for His help in times of need and trouble?
Or has He been speaking to you through your mind, yet you have continually neglected His directives?
No Christian who falls into calamity should be able to say that God did not warn him before the evil occurred.
If you fail to listen to your conscience, He may speak through those who are close to you: your husband or wife, your colleagues at work, or other people around you.
He may even use circumstances to warn you of the danger ahead. But it is your responsibility to listen.
Do not blame God for not interfering in your life. Examine yourself and ask whether you have dishonoured His Word.
The difference between a child of destiny and a child of perdition is who leads them.
A child of destiny submits to the tutelage and leading of the Spirit of God, while a child of perdition is governed by the flesh and a corrupt mind.
That was the difference between Esau and Jacob. I have never read where God spoke to Esau, but there are many instances where God spoke to Jacob and directed his steps.
This is how you distinguish between the children of God and the children of perdition: the children of perdition act according to the desires of their hearts, which work against the will and purpose of God. They do not consider the Word of God when making decisions.
If you have been a Christian for ten years and still use prophets as a shield for every decision you make, I would question whether you have truly known God.
God deals with and intervenes directly in the lives of His children.
He came to Abraham Himself, but He sent angels to Lot. The difference is clear: God had a covenant relationship with Abraham, while His relationship with Lot was through Abraham.
He may send angels to you if you are not in a direct relationship with Him, because He is the God of love. But His desire is for His children to have a direct relationship with Him.
If you are the type who constantly relies on a man of God for counselling and direction, you need to rebuild your relationship with God.
A man may disappoint you, but God will never disappoint you.
I remember a man who always consulted another man, his prophets, for counselling and help. But when his enemies desired to terminate his life, they consulted that same man, and he gave them an open door to kill him.
That is the limitation of putting your trust in man.
But with God, there is no such limitation. He is too faithful to disappoint.
The question is not whether the Holy Spirit is speaking.
The question is: Are you listening?
For the sons of God are not merely those who hear the Spirit. They are those who are led by the Spirit of God.
Prayer: My Father and my God, never leave me alone in this world; I cannot do it alone, in Jesus name, amen
