The Greatness of The Kingdom – Sermon By Arm of The Lord Christian Ministry

In The Greatness of the Kingdom, this message reveals the true meaning of spiritual leadership according to the words of Jesus in Mark 10:42 to 44. Greatness in the kingdom of God is built on service, humility, sacrifice and full submission to the authority of Christ. Many desire positions, titles and recognition, yet they are not ready to walk the difficult path of responsibility that comes with genuine leadership. This teaching calls believers to return to the biblical pattern where a leader serves the weak, strengthens the broken, cares for the needy and feeds the flock with the Word. True greatness is not found in fame or authority, but in faithful service that glorifies God and transforms lives.

Mark 10:42-44 ( But Jesus called them to him, and said unto them, you know that they which are accounted to rule over gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: and whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all)

When some of us rushed to establish a church in our name, we didn’t fully consider what it entails and the responsibilities involved.

Sometimes, if God is preventing us from this by raising men to antagonize and stop us from ascending to the top in the world’s way, He is preventing us from being contaminated by the world’s dirt and rubbish, thereby keeping our souls from defilement.

If God called you, he would have passed you through discipleship, to bring you to His Cross and humble you there for you to be elevated in the long run.

Position of leadership amidst the brethren is meant for those who are ready to serve physically and spiritually.

Whoever thinks that a position of leadership is to exercise authority over others and dictate people’s destinies is deceiving themselves, the day of the priesthood is over likewise the era of the prophets, remember when a prophet rose to stop Paul from going to Jerusalem because of persecution, Paul disobeyed him and faced the purpose of God for his life.

Jesus Christ has taken over such areas, and all we need is to subject ourselves to his authority.

The responsibility on our side is what God will judge in the end, that position you force on yourself, how do you care for it?

What is your quota for the development of the souls in your care?

Are you feeding them as you supposed with daily nutrients of the word, or are you beating them and suffering them in what they need?

Do you visit the sick and care for the widow among you, or do you feed the hungry and bind the brokenhearted ones?

This is why you can’t find it in the Bible where a prophet wrote an application to become one, because of the fear that they would be able to bear the responsibility involved, they rejected it at first.

They know what it takes, ask Moses, he will tell you, ask Gideon also, he will tell you that the position of leadership is not bread and butter, but the end thereof is satisfying.

Moses was furious with the character of the people till he asked God, Am I the one who gave birth to all these that you want me to carry them on my shoulder?

He was even angry that he told God to wipe his name from his book, that is for you to know the stress and the energy involved.

Unfortunately, the opposite is the case in our generation, just as the two brothers, James and John, are demanding to sit on the right and the left side of Jesus in heaven.

We want to sit with Christ in the seat of authority, but are not ready to pay the price of drinking the same cup with him.

We rushed to establish ministries with our name as tags, but we can’t bear the responsibility that is involved.

Jesus Christ says, A servant that knows the will of his master but refused to do it will receive many stripes.

The day of visitation, when the master comes and finds you eating and drinking with unbelievers, he will throw you into darkness where you will weep and gnash your teeth.

Are you ready to bind the broken heart in your midst, or are you ready to feed the poor and attend to the widow and fatherless?

Are you ready to visit the sick in the hospital or fight for the rights of the orphan?

This is what the church money meant for and the reason the kingdom of God is established, not to divert it to personal belongings, this is equivalent to the servant whose God placed over his household that steals from them to parade the house of harlots.

If you’re yet to know this, it would have been better not to rush into ministry but remain under the tutelage of Christ and be disciples by him.

If not, you will only produce disciples after your own likeness and not after Christ.

The responsibility of greatness in the kingdom is not only when your face appears in every billboard and in all Christian magazines, but also when your name appears in the book of life.

The mode of the world’s greatness has crept into the church of God; remember that Jesus Christ told of John the Baptist that of all the great among the children of men, he was the greatest.

He not only served men, but was the one who introduced the Son of God to the world and baptized God in the image of man.

Those who want to be the first will become last, and whoever stays in a humble position will become first. The heir of salvation and the little in God’s kingdom in this generation is greater than John, for it was to them that the title of sonship was given to become one with Christ.

Prayer: Father Lord, as you’re crucifying your children without pity, elevate them beyond human comprehension, in Jesus’ name amen.
