2 Peter 2:15–16
(Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness; but was rebuked for his iniquity: the dumb ass speaking with man’s voice forbade the madness of the prophet.)
Here, the apostle Peter is speaking about the madness of the prophet Balaam, whom God told not to go with the messengers of the king of Moab. Still, because of the gain involved, he went ahead to answer the king. When the angel of God met him on the way, his donkey spoke with a human voice to stop his madness.
Unfortunately, many prophets have gone the way of Balaam because of the gain involved, doing things that God opposes.
I remember a prophet I met thirty years ago who was employed by someone to kill his rival. However, someone in that church went into prophecy and declared the voice of God to the man, warning him that if he dared to do that, his entire family would go into extinction.
How many of today’s prophets collect money to kill, just like hired assassins?
Any prophet who does that does not belong to God. Only the prophet of Baal could do such a thing.
Some prophets are collecting money to kill another’s rivals in the name of prayer; they have gone after Balaam, the prophet of Baal, when God commanded that we should pray for those who curse us and bless our enemies; the representatives of Baal are doing the contrary.
In the end, you can see the result of what Balaam did. When he failed despite God’s warnings, he still went ahead to put a stumbling block in the way of God’s people to make them sin against God. As a result, God destroyed twenty-three thousand in one day.
That is what Satanists do: if they can’t win you as a child of God, they will bring iniquity to your doorstep to make you sin against God, so they can open the way for attack.
Many of today’s prophets have gone the way of Balaam. They worship God in iniquity and romance with the world for gain.
They no longer serve the true God but Baal, the god of Balaam, while drinking iniquity like water.
Sin in man has already made him spiritually insane. Not to talk of when a man called by God’s name is doing things contrary to God’s way. What should we call such a man, if not spiritually mad?
It is by their fruit that you will know them. Before a man can be used by God, he must pass through the quarry ground, to be fashioned according to God’s purpose and fitted for the building of the temple.
Had Balaam listened to God’s counsel, he would have been named among the great prophets in the Bible, but his greed disqualified him from becoming one.
Greed has turned many prophets to Baal because of what to eat and drink, and they have deliberately become slaves to the prince of the world, whose end will be according to their works.
They have turned God’s children from His ways, diverting them to themselves and Satan’s service without them knowing it.
Prophets of God are the oracles of God. When a prophet uses his mouth to propagate what edifies the kingdom of darkness, he has turned himself into Satan’s mouthpiece.
He is called a mad prophet. God was even trying to bring Balaam to His side to become His mouthpiece, but his heart rejected that because he loved money and the gain of unrighteousness more than God.
How many of God’s prophets have gone after Baal, and how many of them have gone after Jezebel to do evil against the kingdom of God?
Many of them started well but could not finish well because of their lust, which they have yet to conquer at the feet of the cross.
It is only those who endure to the end that shall be saved. The way to keep from becoming a mad prophet is at the feet of the cross. To receive the anointing to end well in the race, a diversion may cost you your life.
Greed is a thin wall that separates a prophet of God from one of Baal. When a man starts lusting after another man’s possession, he has added greed to his calling.
If a man could remove the spirit of greed from his calling, he would be more like Elisha than Gehazi and would not need to inherit the leprosy of Naaman.
Prayer: Fathers lord, remove the spirit of diversion from my destination; help me end my journey well in you, in Jesus name, amen
