Matthew 16:26
(For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?)
The Bible asks, “What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his soul? What will he give in exchange for his soul?”
Unfortunately, many people do not understand this truth and fall victim to soul traders, losing their souls for things that have no eternal value.
If Satan gives one naira, he takes millions of naira from you. With your soul as the interest, if you give him an opportunity, he takes far more than you offered. If you give him your arm, he takes your hand, and eventually your whole body.
Whatever he gives, or whatever you give him, his ultimate target is the soul. Those who are ignorant of the value of their souls take this matter lightly when dealing with the devil. Satan holds an agreement against everyone who enters into dealings with him, and this is what he will use against them in the end to lay claim to their souls.
If this is true of those who are still in darkness and ignorant of the truth revealed in the Word of God, what then of those who know the truth but deliberately ignore it and fall victim because of temporary discomfort?
The soul of man is of utmost importance to God. For this reason, He sent His only begotten Son to redeem our souls from destruction. The soul is the most sought-after possession in the kingdom of darkness because it is precious to God. Therefore, it becomes the target of Satan’s kingdom in its rebellion against God.
Satan cannot reach God directly, so he seeks vengeance by attacking those whom God loves to grieve His heart.
The Bible says we should guard our hearts with all diligence, for out of them are the issues of life.
Satan never enters into any transaction where there is no gain. He operates through exchange: “I will give you what you want, but you will give me your soul as my profit.”
Those who go to the devil to become great in this world have traded away their souls. They may become the richest people in the world, but their souls no longer belong to them. They are held captive, while demons take control of their lives. This is why it becomes very difficult for many of them to repent, because the power controlling them continually leads them contrary to the will and purpose of God.
Many worldly celebrities are under the influence of the devil. Their souls are under Satan’s dominion, and over time, they begin to reflect the image of darkness in their lives.
Satan will never allow anyone to truly enjoy whatever they obtain through dealings with him. When he gives riches, he attaches sorrow to them. When he gives children, they may become a source of grief instead of joy. He simply postpones today’s sorrow to the future.
Your soul is your very life. Why would you trade yourself for things that cannot add anything to your eternal existence?
Esau traded his birthright for a bowl of lentil stew. Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus Christ for thirty pieces of silver. What are you willing to trade your eternal life for?
All these have to do with the soul, because Satan never gives anything freely without demanding the soul in return. Have you ever heard that Esau or Judas ended up in heaven?
There are spiritual portals opened by the devil through which the souls of people are traded, and there are agents of darkness assigned to this mission.
There are sorcerers, diviners, necromancers, and all kinds of familiar spirits operating solely for the purpose of exchanging souls.
Whoever consults them registers himself with the devil, and his name is entered into the book of death.
God warned the Israelites against consulting or associating with such people, declaring that whoever does so becomes an abomination before Him.
Those who do not understand the value of their souls fail to guard their hearts with diligence.
If you enter through these satanic portals, your soul becomes vulnerable to these soul hunters. Unless divine intervention takes place, the shackles are broken, and the bars of iron are cut apart, those covenants will stand against you on the Day of Judgment.
Some souls are held captive under the rocks of the sea, while others are imprisoned in the depths of hell. Yet their bodies continue to live recklessly on the earth because demons have taken control of them.
Souls that have been traded lose their freedom and come under the manipulation of the devil, who uses them according to his will and eventually drags them to hell because of the covenant that has not been broken by the blood of Jesus Christ.
Whatever Satan gives in exchange for your soul will never lead you to eternal life. When you die, everything he gave you remains behind, and it is your soul that will give account for everything done in the body.
Whatever agreement you made with Satan in the past that you have not surrendered to the power of the cross will be used against you in the end. If it has not been brought under the power of Calvary, it still stands. You may forget, but the devil does not forget. You may say, “That is in the past,” but have you confessed it to God? Or have you simply swept it under the carpet, thinking that God will not remember or that the devil has forgotten? If you refuse to bring it before God for cleansing, it will stand against you in judgment and become a witness of condemnation unless you truly repent and receive the cleansing that is in Jesus Christ.
Prayer: Father Lord, by your name, I break every agreement I had with the devil in the past, and I bring it under your blood in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.
