BEWARE OF COVETOUSNESS – BIBLE STUDY SERMON

1Timothy 6:6,7 ( But godliness with contentment is a great gain, for we brought nothing to this world, and certainly we can carry nothing out)

Satan started in heaven what he later introduced to man in Eden, the lust of the eyes, that is covetousness, greed that he thought could make him take the place of God: ” I will ascend into heaven, I will exalted my throne above the stars of God”, then the lust of the flesh followed, which says, “I will sit also upon the mount of congregation, in the sides of the north” and then the pride of life, ” I will ascend above the height of the clouds; I will be like the most High”.

This is exactly what he introduced to Eve within a short period: this fruit is good to behold, pleasant to the eyes, and looks good for food, and a tree to be desired, making one wise.

Covetousness won’t fulfil your mission, it can only relegate you far beyond your expectations.

This is all it takes for Satan to fall, as he fell, he was relegated to the abyss and was brought down to hell to the sides of the pit.

Man also lost his position and was brought down from his exalted position making him become a slave to the devil.

When you begin to displease with the way you’re created, you start feeling discontent and wish yourself to be better than who you are created to be, and be envious of another person who carries the grace, this is the essence of women bleaching their skin, painting themselves with cosmetics that change their face, this is the essence of demonic fashion sense in the world.

No one sees a bleaching woman and thinks it’s natural, it’s always a fake look when you bleach, and attracted you to the riff raff of society.

Women transformed themselves into men, they are not pleased as they were created as women. Men also transformed themselves into ladies, telling God that his works are not perfect.

Who are you to query God in whichever situation you find yourself, can a clay tell the potter that his work is not perfect?

No wonder the Bible says, ” Contentment with godliness is great gain, if you’re not content with the way you’re created or what you’re endowed with, you will surely desire to become like another person.

Bleaching the hair or hair perming is a sign of discontentment, we are tired of looking Africanish, so we borrow white women’s hair.

We are ashamed of our hair so we covered our glory with Brazilian hair and hair from Indian shrines.

Do you know that some women are now ashamed to carry their God-given hair to display it openly, but instead they hide their glory with demonic attachments, this is a sign of covetousness, feeling inferior to the way they are created by God, and ashamed of themselves which makes glory in the shame of others.

The hair some women dumped in their shrines to ward away evil is the one we buy at an exorbitant price to place the other people’s curse on our heads.

This is what covetousness can do, not to hate anyone alone but to hate yourself and wish to be another person. A covetous person can’t appreciate, they are always dissatisfied with who they are and what they can become.

Covetousness is what leads to competition in the church of God, I want to wear the same clothes as sister Esther, so you borrow money to feel belong.

If we can remove greed from the world, I think this world would have become a better place to live in, not a place of competition that ruins life.

It always comes with discontentment with who you are and who you can become, lucifer was discontent with who he was and his assignments before the throne, to usher praises unto God, he wanted to be the one who actually receives the praise, so he rebelled against God and lost his position to become the opposer.

There is a reason God created our skin with melanin to protect us from the sun’s rays and created white people’s hair to be long and cover them in cold weather, but in our ignorance, we remove the melanin by bleaching it off and exposing our flesh to danger.

How can the clay tell the potter that what he was doing is not good? How can you tell your creator that he is not perfect in his works?

That is exactly what we do when we try to change what God made to please our fallen nature, we did not only do it in Eden by eating what was forbidden, but it’s continuing now by disobeying God to modify and recreate the works of his hands to please self..

Spiritual controls the physical, the guiding angels of some people won’t recognise them for they have recreated themselves, when the angels of destruction locate them, he won’t see them with their angels so he strikes.

Covetous means recreating yourself, you took over another person’s home because you covet her husband and turn him to your property, where will you be when your real husband comes to locate you? In another man’s compound?

It’s because Pharaoh coveted Abraham’s wife that God turned his entire household into dead people while living, until he returned the man’s wife, he never received healing from God.

Many fell because they couldn’t discern the bitter pill coated with sugar before they licked it, after which they started tasting the bitterness, and their happiness ended in sorrows.

It’s the greedy people that always fall into the hands of fraudsters, if they notice the greed in you, it’ll open the way for them to empty your bank account and render you financially useless to yourself and your family.

Prayer: Father lord, uproot every root of bitterness planted into my soul by your fire and your blood in Jesus name amen.
