Matthew 15:2,3 ( Why do thy disciples transgress the traditions of the elders? For they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said to them, Why do ye transgress the commandment of God by your traditions?)
In every nation, and in every race and culture we all have traditions which we cherish before we give our lives to God, Jews also had their culture and traditions which they exalted more than the law of God.
That is how it is all over the world, they tried mixing their traditions with their faith which makes them abominable and incomplete before God.
We all have the traditions that we bring into the household of God, which can lead to the carrying over of problems and generational bondage.
This is what we do in our family, this is our culture you must abide by it if you want to marry into this family, this has destroyed the foundation of many marriages because they exalted their culture more than the word of God.
No one is born again from his mother’s womb, we were born sinners with traditions and culture that caged our society, with family culture that serves as a mark of identification with the devil as long as we belong to the world.
Jesus came to transfer us from the kingdom ruled by darkness into his light, exposing the hidden place of darkness so that we shouldn’t suffer under the yoke of our enemy.
Unfortunately, many Christians still hold onto the traditions and culture of their family to the extent that it negates the law and the ordinances of God, thereby stopping the blessings of God from manifesting in their life.
A Christian who still offers sacrifice to the image of twins in his family, a Christians that still participate in his idolatrous background to pay homage to the powers that are in control of his father’s compound.
Immediately we are transferred from where we were before, that is the moment the power must change hands, a new name with a new identity, new blood which is the blood of Christ flowing in our veins that nullifies every attachment to the curse and covenant of the generations we are coming from.
New tags, the spirit of sonship and adoption, no longer a slave who lives under the wrath of God, but the children of Abraham by faith, where we inherit the blessing of God through Abraham.
Devil knows what many Christians don’t know, he knows that by relinquishing all things related to our past we are no longer under his captivity and he won’t have legal ground to afflict us, but in his antics he made us hold on to the roots to stop our growth in reaching the stature of the lord Jesus Christ.
As we keep our root effectively by keeping our culture intact with our faith, it negate every thing that need to do with our relationship and inheritance in God, a servant can’t serve two master, its either you hold to your traditions and leave the company of the saints or you hold on to the cross and the word of God and be separated from what destroys.
Some Christians honoured their traditions by getting married to a dead spouse, this became a bondage that tied them to the spirit of the dead and detained them with the power of the grave.
Some will say, that in their family they don’t eat okra, in their family, every firstborn must pass through rituals that usher them to adulthood.
All daughters must see the nakedness of their mothers before they enter adulthood.
Traditions and culture that say you must put a mark on the face of your child is barbaric, negating the word of God that says, we shouldn’t put tattoos on our body or mark the body for the sake of the dead.
In the kingdom of God, we have a new law written according to the word of God, it’s the Bible that controls the affairs of the kingdom, if we don’t abide in it, we are nothing of his.
Its the word of God and the blood of Jesus that neutralises all things that are attached to us with our family background if we abide in him fully and give us a new inheritance that belongs to the sons and daughters of the kingdom.
Many Christians are not able to access this because of unholy attachments to the traditions of their father’s compound.
Strange attachments to traditions must be cut-off to give us a new beginning in Christ which the curse or the bondage of the family wouldn’t affect.
A culture that says, before you marry your wife, you must sleep with his relative is barbaric, the culture that says, you must marry multiple wives to fill the quota of your parents or grandparents is not helping at all, it’s the way Satan tied us to our family bondage and activates generational curses upon our lives.
No wonder some Christians are still tied down to the problem that ruins their family, because they still respect the culture even if they don’t practice it.
Some pastors are eulogising the powers of their father’s house on the pulpit, some will say, if I haven’t accepted Jesus, I would have destroyed you, had I not been a Christian, you would have seen what I would have done for you.
This is unfair to the person who said he is born again, old things must pass away and all things must become new, even by rejoicing in our past shows that our heart is yet to be regenerated.
It’s the blood of Jesus that covers the guilt of the past, guilt, that is how it’s supposed to be not rejoicing in what would have ruined us if we hadn’t repented.
Prayer: Father lord, separate me from things that want to hold me down, in attaining what you purpose for my life, in Jesus name amen.
HAPPY NEW MONTH TO EVERYONE IN JESUS NAME!!!
