Matthew 12: 38,39 ( Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seek after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah)

There are signs shown to each generation proving the supremacy of God. The flood and the ark are a sign for the time of Noah. Moses received signs from God to part the Red Sea, while Elijah showed a sign of fire from above to prove he was a man of God.

Since the fall, the whole creation has been searching for the manifestation of the sons of God, who will deliver them from the bondage of corruption to transfer them to the marvellous light of God and make them accept the authenticity of the messages proclaimed to be divine.

God gave Moses signs for the children of Israel to believe in his originality, he performed signs amd wonder in Egypt that made Pharaoh release the children of Israel by force.

Elijah also performed miracles in his days, he locked up the heavens so that no rain might fall in Israel to show the supremacy of God to the apostate Israelites.

Even as Elijah showed those signs, many still didn’t believe in him, of all the miracles of God in Egypt by Moses and in the wilderness, the adulterous generation still followed after golden calves.

Jesus Christ came and he said, If these people didn’t see signs and wonders they won’t believe in his message.

The adulterous state of humanity makes them seek after signs and wonder this is what allows Satan to deceive and cage man, for he is ready to show signs that’ll make man fall into the deception of anti christ.

After all that he did in the eyes of the Pharisees, they still doubted his authenticity, they were expecting a sign, maybe as Gideon’s fleece that dried when dew fell on it or a sign from heaven that would make them believe in him.

But Jesus was not ready to give signs more than what he did that no man has ever done before, if he shows any signs more than that, their adulterous nature will still follow another person whose sign is stronger and be carried away by it.

It’s only the signs of Jonah that stayed in the fish’s belly for three days and three nights, so that no one will be able to adulterate or copy them.

After all the miracles, and signs they still identify him with Beelzebub, the prince of darkness, they are not ready to believe him even if he shows a sign from above.

The only sign he is ready to give is the sign of three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

The Pharisees desired signs despite all the wonders he was doing in their midst. John also sent his disciples to ask if he was the one or if they should look for another.

But he replied by performing different miracles for them as a testimony of who he is and says that, “blessed is he who won’t be offended in him”.

In fact, many Christians have been offended in Christ because of a man who only preached the lord crucified and his resurrection which is the foundation of our faith.

Those agents of Satan who tried to replicate it died the second time for it’s only Christ who conquered death and destroyed his power by his resurrection, even death couldn’t hold him captives.

After his resurrection, he gave his disciples a mandate to preach the kingdom of God and whoever believes in the one who was hanging on the tree shall be saved. If Jesus Christ hadn’t been resurrected, the issue of our salvation would have been a lie.

The sign that Jesus is ready to give was not pleasing to the Pharisees because of their adulterous nature, so also the message of the cross is not please with this generation which always seek for signs and wonders.

Whatever miracles performed by Jesus are enough to show who is ready to believe, even if he shows more than that they still won’t believe.

Jesus died and spent three days and three nights in the heart of the earth, he came out victorious over all the forces of darkness and handed over the victory to whoever believes in him.

As Moses lift serpent in the wilderness, so the Son of man must be lifted, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

This is the whole message of salvation, whichever sign that one might show that doesn’t include this is fake from the kingdom of darkness, whoever is asking you to seek Christ through him because of a sign, but doesn’t have the message of the cross where the head of the ancient serpent was bruise is sent from the pit of hell.

This is the message that disarmed principalities and powers and made a public show of them, Satan wouldn’t want to hear that.

If you don’t believe in his death how will you look at the person hanging the cross to be saved?

This sign has been removed from the messages of salvation to those who seek signs and wonders, they reject the death of Jesus Christ but want to partake in the power of resurrection.

Many believe him to be a prophet sent by God but they don’t believe in his saviorhood nor his lordship, they believe that he is a good man but not ready to follow or abide in his sayings.

Whatever your faith is attached to, if it’s not in his death and resurrection, you are far from being saved.

This generation was called adulterous and wicked because that is what they are, they commit adultery in the grooves and shrine for signs and wonders, they follow false prophets because of signs; herbalists are already on the pulpit to show signs and wonders to the ignorant.

Many will be carried away by anti christ because of the signs he will show.

If you follow after signs in every gathering, you will fall into the hands of strange prophets and miss the way of God.

The second coming of Christ is not with signs, if they say, he is here or in the forest, don’t go there, for as lightning comes from one end to the other of the earth so the Son of Man will appear in his glory when all eyes shall see him including those who pierced him and those who crown him with thorns.

If you can’t look into the man hanging on the cross there are no other signs that you believe that will save you, it will be the one that’ll disqualify you from seeing the face of God.

The preaching of the cross is to us the power of God but to those who perish foolishness. God makes the wisdom of this world foolishness and chose the things of the world to confound the wise, and the weak things to confound the mighty, that no one should glory in his presence.

God makes the way of holiness become narrower by Jesus death and resurrection, for so many won’t believe in it and damm themselves, as many that believe that he will give power to become the sons and daughters of God.
