Matthew 16:6 ( Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees)
Among the things that Jesus warned his disciples against, which he told them to beware, are the doctrines of the Pharisees which exposed their hypocrisy in handling the word of God.
They added salt and pepper to the solutions to make them acceptable to men but abominable before God.
It’s either they minus or add that they don’t want to interpret the law the way it is thereby making men imperfect to their creator who gave the law.
They added superstition to the law that unless you worship on one mountain your prayers won’t be answered, until you give seven offerings in seven envelopes to seven men of God, it will be difficult to see the face of God.
They added their own doctrines and traditions to elevate themselves above the law of God for their own selfish gain.
God warned the Israelites not to add addictive to the meal prepared for passover, nor should they add leaven, they should make it natural not to alter the taste or flavour.
The law was given by God through Moses, and the Pharisees and the lawyer which suppose to interpret it for the people extrapolate it to make it difficult, and they won’t dare to touch the law with their fingers.
They transgress God’s commandment to keep their doctrines and traditions more effective with the people.
They honour the tradition of elder more than the word of God, this is the danger of religion, which makes man a priority more than God, they may fight to defend their doctrines but not try to defend the faith of their fathers.
They honour God with their mouth but he is far from their hearts, it’s only those who love God with all their heart, mind and strength that can worship him perfectly.
The heart that refused to accommodate God will find things in replacement, such like tradition of men and human doctrines thereby creating God that he can control that’ll fit into his depraved mind.
Pharisees and Sadducees created their own law to cage men perpetually inside the bondage of religion, holding the key to salvation which they won’t enter and won’t allow others to enter.
They teach the people the doctrines of men to negate the doctrine of God, they honour the sabbath but dishonour the lord of the sabbath.
The Pharisees of these days, honour the gatherings of the people, but dishonour those whom they represent, which is Jesus Christ.
They may teach the love of God and his mercy but not his justice and his judgment, they forget that justice and judgment are the foundation of his throne.
They respect the gift on the altar more than the altar, they also accept your gift even if it came from a polluted source; they honour the gold in the temple more than the temple itself, what you carry that’ll be of benefit to them is what they look at not the condition of your heart.
No wonder the invasion into the church is from the pit of hell because we permit abomination in the holy place.
They ask you to bring what you are supposed to care for your family as an offering to God, because they know that one will end up in their pockets.
They neglect what is inside and honour outward appearance of men, they appear like white washed sephulcre and inwardly they are filled with broken bones, they are sheep in wolves’ clothing, hiding to devour the widow and the fatherless.
They pray long prayers outside to deceive men, but in reality, they are far from God whom they represent.
When you start comparing their activities with this generation of leaders you will know that the doctrines that Jesus asked us to beware are what is in control of his church.
We have trampled on the law and the commandment of God saying it doesn’t matter, and introduced our law and the ordinances of men to bring crowds to the church of God.
We no longer care for their spirituality or how close they are to God before choosing leaders, we trade the way of God for a morsel of bread and anoint an ignorant person who doesn’t know the law to lead the sheep of God.
Its Bible college certificate we are using to appoint leaders while neglecting their spirituality, which will end up producing men after their likeness who never repented, but clothe themselves with garment of religion.
Abomination is sitting down in the holy place of the temple when the riches and wealth have taken over the pulpit preaching the doctrines of prosperity to divert man’s heart from searching after God.
If Jesus were to appear the second time walking amongst us here right now, you’ll see that it’s those who are associated with his name that will crucify him the second time.
His word and teaching don’t have a place in our mind again but the tradition and the doctrine of men.
All that God is asking from his people has turned to the works of the law that we need to abandon to follow after grace, whereas Jesus himself says, he doesn’t come to delete the law but to fulfil it. That not an iota of his word will go unfulfilled, where did we find our own in the Bible?
When you tell a lady to dress modestly, he will say that is the law, she is no longer under it, when you tell a man not to fornicate, he will tell you that God has forgiven him and his blood covers all sins, he can move on doing things against God, it doesn’t matter.
The church of nowadays allows things that God disallowed on their altar in the name of religion, women wearing trousers to minister on the pulpit because God has counselled the law, they misinterpret the law to deceive others who desire to seek God wholeheartedly.
God can never change, he is the same yesterday, today and forever, so also his word is eternal.
What he wouldn’t allow in the time of Moses, he won’t allow it in the time of Elijah, so also in the time of grace, he is immutable, he can never change, no mutation in God even civilisation and society won’t change Him.
Prayer: Father lord give me a righteousness that exceed the righteousness of the Pharisees and Sadducees of this generation in Jesus name amen.
The comparison between leaven and false doctrine is really thought-provoking, especially how something small can quietly influence the whole message. It’s a good reminder that traditions or extra requirements can easily drift people away from the simplicity of what God actually commanded. Messages like this encourage believers to go back to the scriptures themselves and stay discerning.
