Jeremiah 2:11 (Hath a nation changed their gods, which are yet no gods? But my people have changed their glory for that which doth not profit.)

Since the fall, Satan has taken over territories and established strongholds across nations, kingdoms, cities, and communities.

He placed principalities and powers over their affairs and controls them as gods. If you observe, you will see that even till now, those principalities are still influencing the affairs of many nations, and it is reflected in their cultures and symbols. The dragon is still honoured and worshipped in some regions as a god.

Dagon is still regarded as a god among some Palestinians, and Zeus, also called Baal, is still revered in various forms across Europe. Whether you believe it or not does not change the fact. That is why the principalities in charge of these nations will not release their captives unless a greater force is employed.

Satan has been trying to replace the true God of Israel ever since Abraham was called out to follow God. He attempted it when he influenced Rachel to steal her father’s idols, but the plan failed.

He tried again in the wilderness when he led Aaron to make two golden calves in the name of Baal, but Moses frustrated his efforts and burned them to ashes.

But why have Christians changed their God, who is eternal, the Creator of heaven and earth?

Instead of following the God of the Bible, we changed the moment we discarded His Word and embraced the words of men.

They exchanged their glory for things that have no eternal value, claiming to know God but neither worshipping nor glorifying Him as God. Christians, who have bewitched us?

We have exchanged Jesus Christ of Calvary for another gospel that is devoid of the power of the cross. We have replaced the eternal gospel with the gospel of prosperity. Have we not realized that the same tactics Satan used against Israel in the days of the prophets are the same ones he is applying to us in this dispensation of grace?

Satan’s tactics never change. What he used in Eden is what he tried to use against Jesus, but he failed. It is the same strategy he is still using against mankind today. Yet the Bible says that we should not be ignorant of the devices of the enemy. Sadly, we are not increasing in our knowledge of the things of God, but in our knowledge of the depths of Satan.

As a result, we have gradually drifted away and lost our first love for God. We have become more interested in knowing about Satan than knowing God, thereby shifting our reverence from God and becoming fearful of Satan’s power.

If the nations will not change their gods, which are not gods, why should we exchange our God for something that has no value?

We must penetrate the strongest strongholds to bring out those who are bound by the devil and bring them into the marvellous light of God.

But if we change our God and abandon the doctrines of Christ to follow traditions and human culture, we will not have the power to set the captives free, for power resides in the true God and in Jesus Christ whom He sent.

This is what has deprived the true Church of her power. Even demons are no longer afraid of the authority of the Church. As a result, their influence has increased upon the pulpit, controlling its affairs and bringing people back into bondage.

Power resides in the true gospel and in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. When the gospel is changed from repentance unto salvation to a prosperity gospel, it shifts from the One who holds the sceptre to another god who has nothing to do with the salvation of souls and has no eternal life to offer at the end of life. For only the knowledge of the true God and of Jesus Christ whom He sent is eternal life to those who believe.

Until we drive the strange gods out of the pulpit, remove Jezebel and Balaam from their thrones, and allow the true God to take His rightful place, peace will not reign. Then the power from above will come to grant us our heart’s desires, which will, in turn, bring glory to His holy name.
