Mark 3:35 ( For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and my mother)
John 8:47 ( He that is of God heareth God’s words; ye therefore hear them not, because ye are not of God)
Most of those who followed Jesus Christ when he was alive are not identified with him for they are not his true followers, some stopped following when they couldn’t understand his teaching, some only follow because of food, and some follow him for miracles, when he was about to be crucified, no single person was shouting in his support, everyone was calling for his crucifixion.
Where are the blind Bartimaeus and the ten leprous, where are those who ate bread and fish in his presence, even his apostles fled it’s one who remained with him.
Some followed to criticise him, and some followed to accuse him and find fault in whatever he was doing; even healing on a Sabbath became an excuse to accuse him.
Even in this dispensation, many so-called Christians are ready to deny him at the slightest persecution; only a few people followed because he is the source of eternal life and the one who has the true word.
They followed for what they could get that can’t be easily gotten from anywhere else.
Some follow because of miracles, at least he can heal them of their infirmities and diseases, provide for their immediate needs, they call him in times of trouble or distress and he answers, they use his blood as protection from the power of the evil one, at least this one is enough for no one wants to go a little further to the place of glorification.
To listen and obey his instructions according to how it’s written is far from them, it’s the other masters they listen and obey, that is what they follow not God, no wonder repentance is far from them.
It’s true that the whole world acknowledges him but is not ready to accept him as their Lord and master, they honour him with their mouth but their heart is far from him.
Some in the world chose Jesus Christ to be their saviour but not as Lord, not knowing that His Lordship is attached to his saviorhood, it’s when he becomes your master that you also become one of the members of his family.
This is the difference between true followers and those who follow randomly, the true followers follow his step and walk where he walked.
That is why some will come on the last day, claiming their allegiance to him, as they preached in his name, cast out demons in his name, and healed the sick, but he will profess to them that he knew them not, and cast them out of his presence, for they did all these in the name they refused to honour.
God won’t dishonour his name even if it’s dishonoured by men, he glorifies his name when it’s called, the authority has been given to that name, so that at the mention of his name, all knees must bow and every tongue must confess Jesus Christ as Lord. Just know that working in his name without giving him the honour he deserves doesn’t qualify you to be his followers.
If you’re not disciples by him you’re not of his, it’s only those who are disciples by Christ that will sit with him at the right hand of his father.
The five foolish virgins have the lamp but there’s no oil in it; the five wise virgins have their lamp with oil in it. Having a lamp only doesn’t qualify you to enter with the bridegroom, it is the one with oil in their lamp that qualifies to enter the bride’s chamber.
Wise virgins are the ones who kept their lamp shining with light by constant learning in his presence and obeying every word spoken by Christ.
They ate the word of life as their spiritual food to keep their souls alive unto God and prevent themselves from worldly decadence by obedience to divine authority.
When the bridegroom appears their souls are active and glow with the light of God, even if they’ve slept, their spirit man will awaken to the call, they won’t walk in darkness but in the light of their Father.
Prayer: Father lord, don’t let me come to the world in vain, don’t allow me to live a wasted life, in Jesus name amen.
