Gen 3:17 ( And unto Adam he said, because thou hast hearkened to the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree of which I commanded thee saying thou shall not eat of it, accursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shall thou eating of it all the days of thy life)
When God created Adam, He saw that it was not good for him to be alone. He made all animals pass through the screening of Adam’s eyes, but he couldn’t see a partner suitable for himself amongst them.
Then God made deep sleep fell on him, and He removed a rib from Adam and created a woman; this is the first anaesthesia that was performed by God.
When the man saw her, he happily accepted her and declared, “This is the bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called woman for she is the mother of all living.
It was not too long before Satan came to tempt the woman and made her eat the forbidden fruit and give her husband by her side.
You may wonder where Adam was when satan came to tempt his wife; he was standing beside her but didn’t respond negatively to the serpent’s temptation but fell into it with his eyes wide open.
God placed a curse on the ground for Adam’s sake because he hearkened to the voice of his wife and abandoned the word of God.
This is the origin of sorrow and afflictions that befell humanity since the fall because Adam failed in his responsibility as the man of the house that supposed to guide his family in the way of God.
Marriage was instituted by God; even our lord was present at a wedding in Galilee, and when their wine finished, he turned water into wine.
Marriage is a divine arrangement to increase the human race and subdue the earth with their kind.
The first purpose for marriage is companionship, followed by reproduction to preserve human generation from going into extinction.
Unfortunately, Satan had turned it upside down; instead of it being a blessing, it has turned into a curse by introducing many ways of bringing human beings to the world without proper wedding and making the children born by default become instruments of destruction in the hands of Satan.
There are no perfect human beings; likewise, there is nothing like perfect marriages or couples; it’s only angels that are perfect, but they don’t marry; it’s only the fallen angel that is cursed and condemned by God that is trying to pollute human lineage.
If a woman created from the rib of man could make her husband sin against God, how much more is Satan sending to the earth to cohabit with men and bring them over to his side by offending their walk with God?
So many men and women of God have gone astray from the way by the foolish counsel of their spouse, not necessarily mean that your partner is a witch or wizard but if a man is not well rooted in God he or she might become an instrument to be used against the spiritual progress of his or her partner.
God doesn’t bring two perfect personalities together in marriage; what is lacking in a partner has been deposited in the life of the others so they could complement each other to bring perfect communion.
You can not because of your imperfect partner push for divorce; Adam didn’t divorce his wife even though it’s because of her they were chased out of Eden, and he too also contributed by obeying the voice of his wife and abandoning the will of God.
That is why God is preventing Christians from getting married to unbelievers because of their different beliefs; if not, the unbeliever will surely become offences in the life of that Christian and make him backslide in the end.
Lack of wisdom and not being able to listen to the voice of God causes many to enter the wrong relationships that end in divorce.
Any marriage that starts with fornications will end up fulfilling the purpose of the devil unless amendments are made and their sin is forgiven; this becomes an avenue for satan to penetrate and cause disorderliness.
Adam refused to live by the word and the commandments of God, even if his wife tempted him to eat the fruit, he shouldn’t have obeyed, when Job’s wife asked him to curse God and die, he refused to listen, this is what makes God have confidence in Job and bless him more than ever before.
This is the situation of many servants of God who fell because of their partner; they abandoned the will of God to follow the will of their spouse, thereby creating a rift between them and God, which can never be filled.
Many people in the Bible were led away by the will of their wives; they failed to listen to God and do the Will of their spouse, which was condemned by God.
King Ahab followed the advice of Jezebel and killed an innocent man, but thanks God for men like Job and women like Abigail, who followed the will of God and saved their entire household from destruction.
This is the clause that brings disagreement between God and married couples: Jesus is the head of the family, and the husband is the next; authority must flow from the head to the bottom for the peace of God to reign entirely in a family.
It’s the will of God in marriage that makes it perfect; even though you got married to the enemy of God, it’s by doing God’s will that brings you above the plan of satan for your life.
I have seen a man who commanded his wife not to go to church, but the wife decided to listen to God rather than listen to the husband. In the end, the man is the one who follows her later.
Suppose a man asks you to abandon God, and you do; what if the consequences catch up with you to claim your life, and the man later give his life to the God he once asked you to abandon?
God is over all authority; marriages collapse because both of them are not in the will of God. Had it been one of them is in the will of God, God would have intervened for the sake of that one and cancel the plan of Satan.
Queen Esther bypassed the rule of the palace laid by the king to intercede on behalf of her people; God turned it around to their favour because Esther decided to abide in the will of God rather than the commandments of men.
This is applied to both in the family; God can bypass the man to bless his family if the wife is walking in the will of God and obey His commandments.
The devil may truncate the purpose of God if one of them derails and follows the will of his or her partner instead of obeying God.
As long as we keep Christ as the head, our marital life is safe from the enemy’s intrusions; even if satan rage, God will rise and raise a standard for us and fight the battles.
When you see a woman who starts dressing worldly to please her husband, it shows that she doesn’t love God from the beginning; she love her husband more than God.
Likewise, a man who changed his value for the love of a woman, also shows that he doesn’t have a love of God at heart; he disobeyed God to please his wife.
That is why Jesus Christ says that whoever loves his wife or partner more than Him cannot become His disciples.
Instead of learning from our fallen first parents, we are treading the same path to rebel more against God and His holiness.
When I see a man of God degrading, and I look at the wife beside him, I know something has transpired which is supposed not to be.
Beware, many agents of darkness have been sent from hell for the sake of the children of the kingdom to cause their fall and turn them into the enemy of God. In the end, learn from King Ahab and Jezebel.
Prayer: Father Lord, I pray, when it’s time to choose a partner for my children, guide them through and let them abide in your will for their life in Jesus name. Amen!
