2 Corinthians 6:16

«“And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.”»

God’s original desire from creation has always been to make His abode with man. Humanity was created for fellowship with God. Man was not created merely to know about God, but to become His dwelling place and to walk in His presence.

Sin, however, separated man from this glorious privilege. Yet, even after the fall, God never abandoned His desire to dwell with humanity. Throughout Scripture, we see God continually reaching out to man until the fullness of redemption would be manifested and His permanent dwelling established in His people.

God appeared to Abraham, and Jesus Himself confirmed that Abraham saw His day and rejoiced. God came to Abraham at the plains of Mamre with two angels, and Abraham received and entertained Him.

Ultimately, God came in the fullness of His revelation through Jesus Christ. He was called Emmanuel, meaning, “God with us.” God did not send Christ merely to visit humanity; through Him, God made a way to dwell with man forever.

ANGELS ARE SERVANTS, NOT GOD

Angels who stand in the presence of God answer to God alone. Jesus confirmed this when He said concerning little children that their angels continually behold the face of His Father in heaven. They look to God for direction and receive their commands from Him.

When Joshua met the Captain of the Lord’s host, he asked:

«“Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?”»

The answer was, “Nay.”

Why? Because the Captain of the Lord’s host was not under Joshua’s command. He was under the command of God. Angels do not belong to man for man to control, command, or manipulate. They carry out the will of the Almighty.

Therefore, to abandon the favour and presence of God in pursuit of angelic favour is a serious spiritual error. Often, it reveals a failure in one’s responsibility toward God, while seeking supernatural manifestations to cover spiritual weaknesses.

Apostle Paul said that even if an angel from heaven preached another message contrary to the Gospel already preached, such a message must be rejected and the messenger accursed. The source of a supernatural experience does not automatically make the experience divine. Every spirit, manifestation, and message must remain subject to the Word of God.

Yet, some so-called ministers claim that their ministries were given to them by angels who direct what they do—even when their practices contradict the will and purpose of God.

This is dangerous.

THANK THE ONE WHO SENT THE HELP

Imagine asking the president of a nation for protection. The president responds by sending government agents to guide and protect you. At the end of everything, instead of appreciating the one who sent the agents, you begin to give your deepest devotion, honour, and appreciation to the guards.

That is exactly what many people do spiritually.

Angels are servants of God. They are sent by Him. They carry out His commands. Therefore, they must never replace the One who sent them.

When John, the beloved, attempted to bow before an angel, the angel immediately corrected him, declaring that he was only a fellow servant. The angel refused worship and directed the glory back to God.

The servant must never take the place of the Master.

THE FULLNESS OF GOD IS IN CHRIST

Christ is the image of the invisible God, the Firstborn over all creation, and all the fullness of God dwells in Him. Whoever has seen Jesus has seen the revelation of the Father.

Through Christ, man receives the life of God. The cursed old life is put away, and a new life begins.

Therefore, how can a man be filled with the fullness of God and yet become obsessed with angelic manifestations?

An unhealthy craving for angelic experiences while neglecting the presence of God can reveal emptiness in the spirit. When Christ is not enough, people begin to seek substitutes for the presence of God.

Angels may guide and protect us through life. Scripture says that God gives His angels charge concerning His people so that they do not dash their feet against a stone. But they do not operate according to human command. They move at the order of the Almighty.

THE DANGER OF SEEKING ANGELS ABOVE CHRIST

I once asked a religious woman who was deeply obsessed with angelic manifestations why they were seeking assistance from angels when Jesus had clearly said that whatever we ask in His name, He would do.

Her response was shocking.

She said that sending an angel on an errand makes the work faster. According to her, if you call upon Jesus Christ, He will begin looking for an angel to send; but if you call the angels directly, they will answer without delay.

Is this not a serious error in religious belief?

How can human reasoning be used to contradict the Word of the living God? How can a person rely upon personal understanding to replace what Christ Himself has spoken?

Jesus Christ is not slow. He is not powerless. He does not need to be bypassed.

Any teaching that diminishes the name of Jesus while magnifying angels should be carefully examined. Satan hates the authority and lordship of Christ and has always desired to substitute himself for God. His purpose is to redirect humanity away from Christ and toward another object of dependence, devotion, and worship.

The enemy seeks to exalt what is created above the Creator.

Some ministers of darkness have therefore made it their mission to train people in the pursuit of angelic manifestations, experiences, and encounters, while gradually moving them away from dependence upon Christ.

But the believer must remember:

Angels are servants. Jesus is Lord.

Angels are sent. Jesus sends.

Angels minister by God’s command. Christ has all authority.

Seek not the servant above the Master.

The greatest manifestation is not an angel appearing in your room. The greatest privilege is that the living God dwells in you and walks in you.

Do not exchange His presence for angelic presence.

Choose God Himself.
