YOUR LIFE AND YOUR TREASURES – BIBLE STUDY SERMON

It is the mismanagement of priorities that has led many souls to hell. What they were supposed to use to secure their eternity is piled up, becoming the root of bitterness in their families. How will they justify themselves in the presence of their Creator?

Jesus Christ said, “Lay up your treasures in heaven, where thieves cannot break through and steal, and where neither moth nor rust destroys.” Wherever your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

If a Christian is afraid of death, it only means that he has nothing laid up there to rest on. He has nothing waiting for him in heaven when he dies.

Preparation matters in every journey. Those who live abroad prepare themselves whenever they think of returning to their homeland because, at any time, the owner of the country where they live may decide to expel them. What will they meet at home if they have not prepared themselves?

No one knows the time he was born, and no one knows when he will die. No matter how many years we spend on earth, if you do not want to leave the world, the world will eventually leave you. What is your hope when you get to the other side?

Most of those who pile up treasures for their children will later realise that those treasures become their downfall when their children try to kill them so they can inherit and waste their possessions.

Some people pile up treasures that eventually destroy them. What was supposed to secure life for them in eternity becomes the cause of their death on earth.

Food, drink, and clothing are all that you truly need on earth. Everything else is vanity.

Those who do not know the purpose of a thing are the ones who devalue it. If the freezer in your house becomes a place where you keep pots and plates, you have devalued it. Likewise, money acquired without understanding its purpose will be spent on pleasure and things that have no eternal value.

If Satan gives you riches, he also gives you where to spend them and what to spend them on, to propagate and expand his kingdom.

If God increases you, it is not for carnal pleasures but for faithful stewardship. You will give account of it before His throne.

Your riches do not determine your value. It is how you use them that does.

Prayer: Father lord, don’t give me riches that will destroy my life and my eternity, in Jesus’ name, amen.
