John 4:24 (God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.)
Wherever entertainment appears in the Bible, it leads to disaster. Take Pharaoh as a case study. The day he entertained his people on his birthday, someone had to die.
What about King Ahasuerus of Persia? The day he celebrated the anniversary of his reign and entertained all the provinces in his kingdom was the day his wife, Vashti, disappointed him and openly disgraced him.
King Herod also beheaded John the Baptist during the celebration of his birthday.
Worldly entertainment is sponsored by the devil. Whatever you celebrate without the presence of God will eventually end in disaster.
Jesus Christ turned water into wine at the wedding in Cana of Galilee because He was present there. His presence transformed their celebration. His presence in any gathering brings men to their knees in worship, rekindles their hope, and exalts the name of God. This is true worship.
Worship is the essence of creation. A man who refuses to worship God will eventually worship himself through entertainment and enthrone himself instead of God.
Worship enthrones God, while entertainment enthrones self. Unfortunately, entertainment has replaced worship in many places where God is supposed to be enthroned among His people.
The day Adam and Eve chose to entertain the serpent instead of worshipping God by resting on His Word and obeying His commandment, they put the whole world in jeopardy.
They shifted their focus from God to themselves, bringing forth a perverse generation.
No one truly worships God in spirit and in truth and then goes home to commit suicide. Yet many have left places of entertainment only to end up in depression and even suicide.
Whatever is born of the flesh leads to death, but what is born of the Spirit brings eternal life. Such is the result of entertainment when it dominates human affairs.
Satan created this medium to amuse people and help them forget their sorrows for a while. It is designed to satisfy emotional hunger while suppressing the spiritual hunger that longs for God. In the end, it produces depression, anxiety, and even suicide.
Nothing can satisfy man’s hunger and thirst for God except worshipping Him in spirit and in truth. In the presence of God there is fullness of joy, and at His right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Only those who find their way into His presence will experience this reality.
Many churches are yet to experience His presence because they have not learned how to enter it. That is why they substitute the joy of His presence with entertainment, which amuses for a while but ends in sorrow.
Those who introduced entertainment into the church do so to amuse their members. How can they lead others into God’s presence when they themselves have not yet found the way?
In their attempt to satisfy people’s needs, they only add more sorrow to their burdens. Instead of going home with the fullness of joy, many return carrying the weight of satanic oppression.
Worship energizes the spirit, while entertainment weakens it and empowers the flesh. Amusement is the foundation of every entertainment industry, including sports. It opens a door for demons to operate freely in a person’s life by weakening spiritual vigilance and making room for evil spirits.
If you cannot tell the difference between performing in church and singing hymns or praises to worship God, you are yet to be regenerated. No wonder many leaders have brought performance to the pulpit and called it worship, giving Satan access to infiltrate their services and deceive souls.
When parents should train their children in the way of worship, they often introduce them to entertainment instead. Whenever it is time to worship God, they say, “They are just children. When they grow up, they will learn the language of worship.”
From childhood, they learn worldly and ungodly dances to amuse themselves, yet they never learn the true art of worship.
Satan initiates them at an early age to destroy their lives. His strategy is to catch them young. The Bible says, “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” We are not commanded to teach them the ways of the world. These forms of entertainment are used by the devil to make children lose their focus in life and divert their destiny.
All these cartoons and worldly music listened to by these children create a portal into the demonic world. If you are not careful, Satan will use them as his agents against the church of God without your knowing until they are destroyed.
Many children who know the way of God perform well academically because they are not distracted by the things that pull others away from their purpose.
True worship brings down the presence of God. This is why David drove the evil spirit away from Saul as he played his instrument. Entertainment, however, opens the door for evil spirits to operate freely in a person’s life.
Entertainment invites the spirit of death because it is carnal, but worshipping God in spirit and in truth brings down the life of God to quicken every dead area and make it alive for His glory.
Prayer: My Father and my God, bring me into Your presence to experience the fullness of joy that can only be found there, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
