James 4:7 ( Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you)

This passage consists of three phases to fight the devil and bring him under submission: first, submission to the authority of God; second, resisting the devil; and third, confirming your victory over Satan, which is that he will flee from you.

This passage is most often quoted by Christians, but they often omit the verse that precedes it: our resistance to the forces of darkness, which’ll make Satan flee from us, depends on our submission to the authority of Christ.

We all want to resist the devil in one way or another, even unbelievers and heathen are trying to resist Satan in their own level of understanding, but they don’t bow under the authority of the word of God. Some are fighting demons with the weapon of the flesh which automatically places them under the dominion of their enemy.

Some are resisting Satan by visiting his agents, raising weapons to fight on their behalf. Remember, Satan doesn’t fight against himself. This order is established in their kingdom to strengthen their bondage in the lives of the ignorant.

Are we not trying to resist the devil and make Satan flee in our own way, having failed to submit under the authority of God’s word?

The only criterion to put Satan under your feet is total submission to the authority of Christ. By trying to put the devil under you in your own ways, you are trying to usurp the authority from God, which results in rebellion against divine rule.

Devil won’t respect and respond, even though it seems he obeys, but he won’t flee under any circumstances because his property is still hiding in your belongings and will use it against you on the day of judgment.

There are stories we heard years ago, that some world rulers fought with demons and conquered to possess their land, many chased rivers from their domain with satanic authority without divine assistance.

This jeopardises their lives and subjects their people under the dominion of the devil, he strategises to make human thinks they can operate without God’s assistance, this is deception that leads to rebellion of the highest order which places humanity under the dominion of evil forces and makes them bow under the power that exalted itself above the stars of God.

Satan’s help for mankind is in exchange for their souls, it’s better to be on the side of God than to be on the enemy’s side because God has elevated man above the powers of darkness, but only those who submit under divine authority.

When we submit under the authority of God, then we will have the power to challenge all disobedience that’s raising its ugly head against our spiritual advancement.

Satan respects no one who is not surrendering to the authority of Christ.

The devil won’t flee from someone who has his properties in his luggage; he won’t flee from one who adores the decorations of Jezebel on her body more than the word of God dwelling in her soul.

He won’t flee from someone who harbours hatred and envy; he will surely make sure that they are still within his reach till he comes to devour them if given the chance.

He doesn’t respect those who dishonour God’s word; he will still stand at their right hand to accuse them to make sure he harvests their souls.

Most Christians still share the habitation of their life with demons, they sleep on the same bed with them when they still masturbate, they dine with them on the same table when they secretly dine with Satan, but come to confess Christ openly.

Most of us lose our lives to Satan the moment we hold a long spoon to dine with him, thinking his hand won’t reach us. We pray fervently, but masturbate secretly and watch porns to please our carnal nature, thinking that no one sees.

You can’t resist Satan when you are still honouring the spirit of the dead by paying homage to them and sacrificing yearly to appease the dead.

This is the reason you keep on seeing them in your dream by communicating and giving you directions on your life, your spiritual man is still dwelling in the grave and wants the lord of life to intervene in your situation.

I pray that it won’t be that by the time you leave the world, you will see that you have been communicating with demons all this time.

You won’t be surprised when they appear to claim your soul in the end, since you’re claiming to have a relationship with Christ, but your habitation is still with the dead.

If your spirit man is yet to resist the devil there is no way you won’t fall into the temptation that Satan is throwing at you.

Job confessed that he had made a covenant with his eyes that he wouldn’t look lustfully at a maid, which is why he would not look at any other woman when his wife was misbehaving and acting foolishly.

All authority belongs to Jesus Christ, he came on man’s behalf to fight against the powers of darkness that took them captives unaware.

He overcame in his Cross and took captivity captives, we are more than conquerors through Christ who loves us and gave his life in exchange for our souls, so that he will have his life dwelling in us and bring us over to his victorious side.

A branch of the vine must stay attached to the tree if he doesn’t want his life to wither and die and be consumed by fire.

Prayer: Father lord, keep me by your side always, don’t let my soul be harvested by my enemy in the end, in Jesus’ name amen
