Genesis 3:12 ( and the man said, the woman whom thou gave to be with me, she gave me of the tree and I did eat)
This is the beginning of man’s woe, placing blame on others without admitting to one’s own fault.
Adam disobeyed God and he was the one who received the commandments not to partake of the fruit and passed it to his wife.
Instead of Adam rebuking his wife for eating it and standing in the gap to intercede on her behalf, he went ahead to eat it and shifted the blame to the woman, and the woman also shifted the blame to the serpent.
Both of them ate according to their hearts’ desires. The serpent climbed the ladder of their flesh to make them fall. Their curiosity to know the secret behind the fruit created a demarcation between them and God.
Before Eve tasted of the fruit, she first ruminated over it, seeing that the fruit was good for food, and pleasant to the eyes, and good to make one wise.
No one told her that the tree was good, nor did anyone tell her that it was pleasant to the eyes. She saw it with her carnal eyes and saw the benefits involved in eating it that activate the power of flesh.
Had they seen their error and repented the moment God asked them, maybe their sin would have been wiped out and their wickedness would have been covered.
But until they fell under the curse of God, they kept on blaming each other; none of them realized that they did it on their own accord, and repented so they could receive pardon from God.
Until a sinner comes to his senses and knows that what he did is wrong, he is far from redemption.
The prodigal son came to his senses; he didn’t blame his brother nor the father for giving him his inheritance; he blamed himself and made up his mind to return to his father’s house.
David was accosted by Prophet Nathan, and he tore his clothes and admitted that he had sinned against God. God forgave him immediately, even if the consequences of his sin remain; he might have suffered in this life, but his name is wiped out from the book of death.
Likewise, King Ahab, when Elijah accosted him for the death of Naboth, he repented and tore his clothes covered himself with ashes for he knew that what he did was against God, even if his wife told him otherwise, and God repented from killing him at that moment but transferred the punishment to his children.
Human beings still remain the same in this area, the matter of shifting the blame they inherited from their first parents is still trailing them from generation to generation, instead of us to admit of failing in our responsibility to our children and train them in the way of the Lord which makes them wayward, we started shifting blame to household wickedness, going from one prayer ground to the other to curse whoever we think is working against our family.
We prayed for deliverance, but not to admit and repent of what put us in a deliverance position. The husband and wife are blaming each other for what is happening in their family, instead of asking where both of them have gone wrong. They won’t come to the conclusion that they all contributed to their predicament.
Someone who misuses his life and ends up in mortal sickness is blaming his family members.
A mother who failed to train her son to respect marital union will start blaming her son’s wife for his son’s failure.
A mother who refuses to teach her daughter ethics will blame her daughter’s husband for mistreating her or blame her enemy for not allowing her daughter to enjoy her marriage.
This is what made us stay long in the valley of demotion. If you’re not ready to listen to the instructions of the elders, don’t blame them when the repercussions of your actions come to you in full force.
The Bible says, “he who fails to listen to instructions, his prayer will become an abomination “.
There is no action without reactions; God told Adam not to eat the fruit, but he listened to his wife and ate it. When God pronounced judgment, they all bore the brunt.
They send you to school, and you start looking for a boyfriend at a tender age, when your age mates are in school studying for their future. If you’re pregnant and become a single mother, who will you blame, your parent or the one who led you to believe that you could do better?
When the repercussions of your actions come upon you in full force, and your mate are working in good places and you become their servant.
Until we realize where we went wrong and make amends under the mercy of God, it will be difficult to make headway in life.
God wants us to repent and come back to him; this is the message of repentance delivered by Jesus Christ. The apostles and our fathers in faith.
Even if Adam didn’t come to repentance, the door of repentance is open to everyone through the finishing work of Christ at Calvary; it is that which will remove the consequences of our actions and restore us to our original position.
Admit that you have sinned, confess it and repent of it, stop doing what is destroying your life, and change from your wicked ways.
Stop smoking and drinking when you know its consequences for your health.
You’re cutting yourself with the knife of sin and expect not to have injuries.
Every sin in the Bible carries consequences, apart from the original sin with the curse of death and poverty. If we continue to add to it, how are we going to come out of it in this life or in the life to come?
Original sin needs to be repented of before other areas are dealt with, you can’t still add up to the sin inherited from your parents and expect to see the favor of God.
It is at the feet of the Cross that deliverance can be obtained, where death is overcome and the power of the grave is destroyed. If you’re still holding to the sin of the flesh, how will you be able to get there?
If we repent of the original sin of the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, the stronghold of sin has been pulled down, and all others will be subjected under the authority of Christ, which becomes a log that is blocking our eyes from seeing our errors.
Don’t think that with your prayers and fasting, you can come out without repentance and change of ways.
If you continue in your sin without repentance you are deviating further from divine presence and far away from God’s grace that’ll pull you out of sin, for out of Zion there shall be deliverance and through holiness the house of Jacob shall possess their possession.
Spiritual Zion is the place of total deliverance and the place of holiness, it’s repentance that will take you there.
Prayer: Father Lord, deliver me from myself in Jesus’ name, Amen.
