Hebrews 6:4-6
(For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the world to come, if they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.)

If we willfully sin after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, but only a certain fearful expectation of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the enemies of God.

He who despised the law of Moses died without mercy under two or three witnesses. How much more severe punishment awaits those who have trampled underfoot the Son of God, counted the blood of the covenant by which they were sanctified as an unholy thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

Brethren, it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. If Satan and all his hosts are fighting against you, when you call on God, He will rise on your behalf. But if it is God who is fighting against you, who will rise for your deliverance?

A child of God who knows Him intimately and has walked with Him through thick and thin, but later becomes His enemy by turning away and becoming a friend of the world, should not expect forgiveness from God. Such a person has crossed the red line and can only look forward to fiery judgment. You cannot mock God and go free.

No matter the situation you find yourself in, do not become God’s enemy or take the side of His enemy. For when God rises, all His enemies shall be scattered, even if they are found in the church.

There are sins unto death, and there are sins not unto death. Do not even try to pray for those who have committed sins unto death, because God will not answer.

The way of sin is the most dangerous path a human being can embark upon. It either subtracts from or adds to a person’s afflictions. When it subtracts, it removes the most important things needed for advancement in life and attacks the spirit of excellence.

Many years ago, I was preaching to a man who was playing games on a Sunday morning and sitting among those who drank alcohol.

Before I could quote a Bible passage, he had already quoted several. He knew the Scriptures well enough to counter my preaching. In the end, he claimed that he had once been a Deeper Life member before he backslid. Such people have become apostates. There is nothing anyone can do to bring them back to repentance. They are the kind of people the Bible says cannot be renewed again unto repentance, but can only look forward to fiery judgment that consumes the adversary.

Most of these backslidden Christians know the Bible better than many believers, but it is of no benefit to them because they have trampled upon the Word that was meant to set them free and have crucified the Son of God afresh.

Do not say that because your husband, who is a pastor, slept with another woman outside marriage, you also went ahead and committed adultery with another man. Your deliberate sin is what will condemn you in the end. Christ will not go to the cross a second time because of you. You have made the blood of the Lamb of no effect in your life.

The deliberate disobedience you committed because someone offended you in the church is what will condemn you on that day. Remember the young prophet whom God sent, who disobeyed God’s command because another prophet told him otherwise.

Your sin cannot be forgiven if you refuse to forgive those who have offended you. Do not expect forgiveness from God when you keep someone imprisoned in your heart and refuse to let them go. It becomes a root of bitterness that hinders your prayers from reaching the throne of mercy.

Christians who still keep side chicks or concubines without remorse are either not yet born again or are wolves in sheep’s clothing.

We all disobeyed God in one way or another before giving our lives to Him, but deliberate disobedience after knowing the truth will cost us our souls, for it is rebellion against His law. God will not tolerate the mockery of His holy name and cause the heathen to speak against Him.

Search the Bible from Genesis to Revelation. There is no place where God condones rebellion and lets the guilty go free. They are already marked for destruction. That is why God was determined to destroy them in the wilderness.

Knowing the truth and still going ahead to do things your own way is rebellion. This is the sin most commonly committed in the church. Unbelievers may disobey God and still come for forgiveness, but a believer who deliberately rebels against God’s Word will face His wrath.

If God released judgment upon every act of disobedience against His holiness, why do you think your own case will be different?

The young prophet heard God’s command clearly before beginning his journey. Yet he deliberately rebelled against God’s word by listening to the false prophet, and a lion came out of the bush to execute God’s judgment.

Had these people not known God, their sins would have been forgiven if they genuinely repented. But knowing God and afterward making a mockery of His Word is a sin that cannot be forgiven, for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.

Some church leaders who knew God from the beginning of their ministries could not wait for God’s divine provision but sought the devil’s assistance instead. They will not go unpunished. Had Jesus turned stones into bread at the devil’s command, He would have frustrated God’s plan of salvation for mankind. But glory be to God, He overcame the temptation of the flesh and defeated Satan permanently through the cross.

Most Christians receive the mark of rebellion the moment they rebel against God’s divine ordinances. Their hearts become hardened so that no one can convince them anymore. They no longer have a place for repentance, but only await God’s judgment upon all who live in deliberate disobedience.

Prayer: Father lord, destroy the spirit of rebellion that wants to cut my journey short in life and wants to prevent me from making heaven in the end, in Jesus’ name, amen
