1 Peter 5:6 ( Humble yourself therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time)
Humility is one of the characteristics of Christ as a man, which He wants to share with us as followers who have learnt from Him.
This is the mind of Christ we must possess as believers; whoever doesn’t have this mind is none of His.
“Who being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made himself of no reputation and took upon himself the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men. And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the Cross.”
A way to the top is always down in the divine dictionary; whoever wants to be lifted must first humble himself under the mighty hand of God.
These were the characteristics of the apostles because they had learnt from Him and put them into practice.
Unfortunately, this character has diminished among the saints; we always think of ourselves and the benefits we get in preaching the gospel, not thinking of what we can lose in the process.
God made all his servants to be humble, and that is why they are different from Satan; that was how it has been since the time of Moses so also the prophets, whoever claimed to be a servant of God and this is missing in him, let it be noted that he is not from God, whoever God will use will first pass through crucifixion without mercy before he’s exalted without measures.
A proud servant of God is yet to visit Calvary to have his flesh crucified on the cross where Christ died.
Humility is the sign of the holy spirit indwelling and the spirit of Christ.
There was a story I read about a man who was going to his place of work and saw a house burning; with no one to rescue and put off the fire, the man quickly entered and rescued the woman and her dog.
As he was going back to his house, he saw someone answering a press interview; by the time evening came, he had seen the man on television when people were praising him for rescuing the household from fire.
The man heard but just said that as long as the woman was safe with her dog, he was pleased with whoever took the credit.
How many of us can wait and let others take the glory of what we have done? Are we not going to come out and defend ourselves in this matter?
How many people can suffer for others without grumbling? Even Christians are fighting because some people take their credit for doing the works of God.
Some are fighting because they were not promoted at the right time in the ministry.
Humble character is dwindling among the saints, which they never take cognisant of; we want to climb the ladder of spirituality with our carnal nature.
There is no humble man who will fight for himself in whatever situation; Jesus never fought for himself; the only place he was angry was when he chased the buyers and sellers out of the temple because they defiled the house of God.
Even he forgave those who crucified Him and prayed for them on the Cross while they were mocking him.
It’s humility that can make someone gather a crowd to bring them in the way of God without getting angry and cursing whoever opposed his doctrine.
How many leaders of this generation are cursing the people under them for leaving their church, even when they’re still in Christ?
It’s pride that can make one claim that his church is the only gate that leads to heaven and despises others who are working for the sake of the kingdom.
Pride has invaded the church to the extent that we no longer work in one accord to bring souls to God.
It’s pride that makes a congregation disassociate from other believers in the name of different doctrines; it’s the pride that makes us create doctrine for ourselves to tie men down to one particular church.
I saw a leader of a church who was keeping malice with his members for leaving the church and going to another church where truth is being preached.
Paul sow Apollo waters. It’s Jesus who’ll bless the works of their hand by bringing fruitfulness.
Humility is a sign that shows that a person truly belongs to God, not the titles at the back of his name.
Pride is the characters of the devil is what all his servants possess.
If you can’t humble yourself, be ready to be humiliated by God like the case of Nebuchadnezzar.
God is more nearer to the humble because they have the same characteristics.
If you want Him to get closer to you, do away with pride. God test His people by humbling them before promotion because you don’t know where you’ll be tomorrow, so you won’t become a disgrace to His name when you reach the top.
Humility is when someone offended you, and you never take offence; it’s pride people that take vengeance and don’t forgive.
When you forgive others, it shows that you’re truly humble. That is when God will forgive your trespasses.
If you hear a person claiming to be humble from his mouth, definitely the man is truly proud; you can’t be humble and admit it for yourself; it is men who will see that humility in you and acknowledge it, not yourself.
It’s the garment of humility that saints need for this race, and that is what the heavens honour in their lives, not their titles.
Prayer: Father Lord, give me the grace to live in humility even if I am more anointed in this race, in Jesus name. Amen!
